ELO alongside Gary Moore
A particularly interesting and early piece of ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA history: a poster for a concert at Dunstable Civic Hall featuring ELO alongside GARY MOORE BAND as the support act, on a Friday, 25 August, at 7:30 pm, probably in 1972 or 1973. It mentions “alpha centauri lights” and “screamin mad disco”, and lists tickets at 65 pence in advance and 75 pence on the door, a snapshot of the British mid-sized venue circuit before A NEW WORLD RECORD and OUT OF THE BLUE. Posters like this were printed in small runs and rarely survived in good condition, so an authentic copy could interest collectors. Its luminous rays almost anticipate the space-age imagery that would later define ELO's visual identity.

Prog 70s Collection: a nod to ELO in PROG magazine
PROG magazine's first special edition of 2026 includes a section called “Spirit Of ’77 – The alternative playlist to Britain's so-Called Year Of Punk”, which makes a brief reference to a classic ELO track. ELO Spain picks up on the mention, one more sign of how the band's music keeps appearing where 1970s rock is remembered.

ELO – Classic Rock Band collectible acrylic plaque
An online shop is selling this ELO collectible in four sizes. There is a certain trick to it, though: it looks like a 3D object when it is actually made of flat acrylic layers, as the sellers themselves admit. ELO Spain shows it so fans know exactly what they would be buying before paying for it.

An unforgettable image
A fan has shared a photograph that is impossible to take again: the entrance to the Kia Forum in Inglewood, Los Angeles, on 25 October 2024, the night Jeff Lynne's ELO played there on “The Over and Out Tour”, their North American farewell. The detail that makes the shot is an airliner crossing the sky above the venue, right on the approach path into nearby LAX. With the farewell tour over, that exact moment cannot happen again.

Dave Edmunds & Jeff
For The Beatles to have ended their days sounding like ELO, when ELO itself began its career sounding like The Beatles, there must be an explanation rooted in a process of... sympathy and circular connection. That providential first encounter was brought about fortuitously by destiny, through someone who becomes the central character in today’s true musical story. This whole chain of events began to take shape in the early years of the wonderful 1980s, when a Welsh rocker, acclaimed singer and guitarist named DAVE EDMUNDS, chose Jeff and contacted him to produce his new album Information (“Slipping Away”). This was followed by Riff Raff (“S.O.S.” / “Breaking Out” / “Far Away”). Sounds in keeping with Electric Dreams, almost like Secret Messages, as Jeff and his band’s fans might say. Rhythmic structures and guitar riffs from someone who has never concealed his tendency towards classic, retro, purist rockers such as Orbison, Del Shannon, the Everly Brothers or Edmunds himself. Curiously, I remember that Edmunds was the artist chosen to open the musical events at Expo ’92 in Seville, sharing the bill with B.B. King. From that friendly collaboration between Dave and Jeff, an electric spark leapt onto the shell of the most sensitive beetle in that band... Jeff met his idol, George Harrison, through Dave, who was a friend of them both. Their relationship gave rise to Cloud Nine, which in turn eventually led to the formation of the supergroup Traveling Wilburys. This was followed by Jeff’s individual collaborations with Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Tom Petty and Roy Orbison, as well as the very resurrection of The Beatles, with Lennon’s presence in the background, on “Free as a Bird” and “Real Love”, with Jeff at the production helm in every case. The first domino, a double six, set off a chain reaction of interconnected milestones in the history of rock music in general, and in the life of our favourite musician in particular. It is surprising that Dave was left out of Jeff’s subsequent projects. He was not even given a place on stage at the Albert Hall for the Concert for George tribute. He could well have become “Elvis Wilbury”, and some of us would have welcomed him in that role ahead of Dylan. Eric Clapton also joined the “four-man line-up” and would have been a worthy Wilbury candidate. Anyway, we should remember the saying: “Everything happens for a reason, but the things that don’t happen do so for a reason, too”... The fact is that Edmunds has earned his place in our “Jeff Universe”. We often mention the artists I referred to earlier, yet forget Dave Edmunds, whose long and distinguished career makes him a key link and the crucial connection behind an encounter that proved so important to Jeff’s personal and professional life. Let these lines serve today as a tribute to this renowned singer and masterful guitarist, now 83, who suffered a cardiac arrest two summers ago but fortunately recovered. Unfortunately, we have no recent news to share about his current situation. The stars in the firmament retain their brilliance forever, even when age weakens them and carries them further away from us... I’ll leave you with this eighties track, a fusion of Edmunds and Lynne... Information!! Paco Carrasquilla
